Gourley. I was born and raised (mostly) in Milton, Ontario. My
family moved to Barrie, Ontario when I started high school, but
currently we are back in Milton. My family has a good
history in Milton, of which I am proud. My grandfather, Sam Sherratt,
was employed as a custodian at J.M. Denyes Public School for many
years. He was so loved by the students at the time, that when
a new elementary school was built in 1981 and needed a name, many
residents of Milton voted to have it named after Sam. Now, a 25-year-old school, it is a very awesome heritage. |

So
how did I get into Web Design? When I was in high school, computers
fascinated me. In fact, I don't think there was a course offered
in computer science that I didn't take. When I entered university,
it was my goal to become a computer science teacher. But my plans
got sidetracked and it was many years before I was to return to
my initial fascination with computers.
Throughout
my university years, I entered a sort of spiritual quest for my
life, which culminated in an interesting five-year career as a
Children's Pastor. From there, I began following my dream again
to become a teacher and taught for two years at a small Christian
school in Barrie, Ontario. My teaching career ended as I began
to raise my own children. During this time, I attempted to complete
my computer science degree at the University of Waterloo, but
again got sidetracked, with the birth of my second son.
Shortly
after my son's arrival in our family, my interest in computers,
specifically web design, was sparked again, this time in a new
venue, the world of art. With virtually no experience in the art
world it was a little intimidating at first, but I gained confidence
knowing that I just had to be good at web design, and let the
artists be good at art.
In
my spare time, yes I make room for "spare time", I enjoy
woodworking projects (past projects include a kitchen table, a
muskoka chair, mailbox, and kitchen cupboards), baking with my
oldest son, photography, playing the alto saxophone and solving SuDoku puzzles. |
